Started biking to work again...15 miles one way...it's great for my fitness and it's great for my wallet...gas is $4 a gallon now here...to put it in perspective it was only $2.60 around April before Mari and the kids left for the Philippines...$25 used to be enough for week's commute...now...you need $50...and that's crazy...

So when i bike, instead of thinking of the money i'm losing for paying gas...i'm thinking of the fat i'm losing for biking to work. :D

ok...this past weekend was busy...real busy..good thing i took tuesday and wednesday off. I SLEPT the whole day...i couldn't even do anything else....i was so tired as in drained. 2 more days of work and it's the weekend again...i have a race on saturday morning...(will post pics when i get em)...then it's prolly going to be a hard weekend again.

it's the end of May....and wow....JUNE! it's June already. Didn't the year just start? I feel like i haven't really accomplished anything this year..anyway...the family still has one more month in the philippines before they come back, tentatively July 8...earlier if i could have their flight changed without paying any penalties.

ow well.

Been a week...

Nothing really much to say...cept that i have lost 12-15 lbs since i started running....now if could lose 20 lbs more before the wifey comes back home...it would be a pleasant surprise for her.

I just feel really tired right now...i think the overtraining is taking a toll on me...i need to get more rest. Or i should just HTFU :D

Me and a friend went there to watch the Rockets' game, on the way inside we saw this woman asking a hispanic lady to talk to some kids who were inside a locked car in the parking light....

we didn't know what it was...until after 15 minutes when a lady on the P.A. announced....

"to the owner of the Honda Accord in the parking lot....there are two kids in the backseat and the police are on their way...."

right away this hispanic dude came running outside....the people inside Hooters were all booing the guy....

the manager of the place was telling the guy "what's wrong with you?" why'd you leave your kids in there?"

the police never came or maybe they didn't really call...either way after 30 minutes...we saw the guy pulling out of the parking lot.

what a moron.

and the Rockets lost because they were morons also.

OK let me show you my companions at home right now...

i got a Silver Arowana in there he's about a feet long now...4 Blood parrots and a 6" pleco.

Currently they're in a 55g aquarium which in a few months needs to be upgrade to something bigger to accomodate my growing arowana.

he likes to stay there after he eats....i guess....to watch some TV since he's full and don't want to swim...

here's a close up.

and the 4 blood parrots..the 2 small ones are at the bottom the two big scaredy cats always hang around the filter when there's people around.

Being Alone.

Let me tell you one thing about being alone in your house...it's fun and not fun at the same time. I mean no wife telling you to clean up and kids bothering you when you're watching the final laps of the F1 race...dishes could be piled up high, clothes need not be in the laundry hamper...but then, after all that, it hits you.....you are damn alone. and yes...

it's not also fun...i miss the noise...the voice of my wife telling me to pick up the socks that i just left dangling on the chair...the sounds of my daughters talking to each other...from the second floor bedroom which you could hear all the way downstairs...

the warm body that sleeps next to you in your bed...i have a king sized bed where i used to occupy about 1/4 because the wife would take up 3/4 of the whole thing....but now...it's so vast and open it's like sleeping in the middle of the sahara...very cold at night.

i have no one to fight with over the TV i actually run out of shows to watch and that includes shows that recorded to the DVR while i was out or sleeping...

it's funny because i was married very early...around 21..(me and the wife will be celebrating our 10th year this december)...never really had the time to go out and be a single dude, i was fresh out of college and there were times when i would think..."what would it be like if i wasn't married?" and this period of time has given me that experience...and maybe because i got so used to having my wife with me always...i don't find the single life really entertaining...it's actually more mundane. When my family was here i wouldn't know what would happen every night i would go home...we might all watch TV, or maybe in the spur of the moment go out to dinner, watch a movie, have a fight :), right now i KNOW what's going to happen....

wake up.... goto work (boring).... run at the park after work.....go home.....cook some dinner.....watch TV.....go upstairs....watch more TV and go on the web......sleep while the TV is on....REPEAT THE NEXT DAY.

Good thing this is a temporary situation...

just talked to my wife, Mari last night and she said her mom is now ok...and back at home...just trying to regain her strength, but she's ok.. She doesn't even need to do any chemotherapy right now.

OK, so i there's a new outlet mall in Houston...saves all of us the 120 mile trip to san marcos...and with the price of gas nowadays...this leaves us with more money to buy stuff we don't really need.

So i had to get some new running shoes, the ones i have are over a year old and it's making my knees hurt...so i decided to see if i could grab a pair.

but the greatest thing that amzes me....is how economist would say the the USA is in a recession...when.....

people are lining up in the middle of the midday sun....just to buy Coach bags. Nice.

Ow BTW i did get some nice adidas shoes..it was on sale for $49.95 :D

the run was good....4 miles in the park's 2 mile jogging trail.... saw a bunch of different people ( i don't often see people running see i usually do this in my subdivision...) ..

anyway...

there..was the normal jogger and runners....

some kids on bikes with their parent's walking behind....

old people...

fat people....good for them at least they're doing something about their health....

and the most annoying one....the cellphone takers....i mean if you're walking around the loop at snail's pace....and you're yapping on the phone...you're not getting any exercise....the only muscle you'll develop are you're jaw muscles....please.

there was one interesting one......a black lady...was power walking....the first time i passed her she was praying...loud. you could hear the actual words...she was praying for herself....i was thinking maybe she was sick and besides doing some exercise was praying for some divine intervention.

but...the second time i passed her...i heard her say..."save him Lord, save his soul"...and i was like wow....she was also praying for everyone that was in that place...made me smile...and I whispered a "thank you" to her.

since i have alot of time to kill ...i'm going to use this time (3 months) to really get into training.
i rode the bike this afternoon an easy 10 miler.....tomorrow i'll start my half marathon training.

and maybe next week i'll join a saturday group ride...what else am i going to do? slouch in my house and eat ice cream?

i promised the wife when they come home on july i'll be fit....or somewhat fit. and i intend to keep it.

just waiting for that Nike Sportband to come on sale and then i might even post my runs....however pathetic it may be. :D

Loud Silence

OK this morning i took the wife and kids to the airport....they went home to the Philippines to visit my mother-in-law who is sick...

i'm left here in the house...and damn, the silence is deafening.

when they were here i wouldn't even have time to type this...let alone hear myself talk..but now i can't even think of stuff to do short of scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush.

someone please tell me it gets better...i miss my wife and kids so much.

ok let's try this blogging thing again. it's just so much fun to blurt out all about your personal life for the whole wide world to see...

well...i wouldn't be posting sex tapes real soon...i doubt you would want to see any from me anyway....(unless your one sick little puppy, FREAK!) but if you really want some just ask...i mean..NO i don't have any you perv.

OK we got side tracked right there...new year...ok, a quarter has gone already but bear with me, spring is here i went back and started my running...need to get ready for next year's Houston half marathon....or if the training goes better as planned...FULL marathon, 26.2 miles of agony...i couldn't wait.

I will also be stepping up the cycling days starting next week i will be doing my work commutes on the bike. 15 miles one way..in HOUSTON traffic...no i don't have life insurance...i think i really should get one.
